The HYDRA-100/300 S.M.R
The HYDRA-300
The Hydra-300 is designed to target utilities specifically, with the lowest upfront capital cost possible to enable rapid scaling.
• 300 [MWe] output, 2-year constant operation.
• Tailored for the utilities’ higher power output needs.
• Multi-unit sites allow for reduced operation cost through economies of scale.
HYDRA-100
The Hydra-100 is designed to target datacenters specifically, with a novel extended 5-year fuel cycle to reduce generation downtime.
• 100 [MWe] output, 5-year constant operation.
• Deployed as multiple units for base load.
• Component redundancy to reduce maintenance downtime.
The Design
The Hydra-100/300 Small Modular Reactor (S.M.R.) concept addresses the challenges currently facing the industry with a few key design choices:
• Traditional light-water design, with operating conditions similar to existing reactors.
• Integration of common industrial components used in non-nuclear applications (turbines, generators, pumps, heat exchangers).
• Designed with an established fuel supply chain in mind (traditional P.W.R. fuel) for reduced cost and lead-time.
• Plant layout optimization for capital cost reduction (novel M.L. iterative algorithm)*.
• Reduction of cycle complexity for capital cost reduction.
Current progress in modeling and simulation has proven that this design is feasible from a technical and economic standpoint.
